Your problem is likely not the portakit. How big is your Midi knowledge? 0. Get the manuals and read the midi chapters: http://195.37.239.143/?area=downloads&download_id=122 http://www.steinberg.net/386_1.html !. Which Midi Interface do you use (the thing between the porta kit and your computer)? 2. Are you aware about the fact, that the midi out of your portakit needs to be connected to the midi in of your midi interface? 3. Make a new midi track in your cubase project and within this track configure the midi in if necessary. By default the midi in should show your midi interface. IF NOT: Your problem is the driver for your midi box. Get it installed somehow 4. If you want to trigger a vst instrument: Load the plugin and "virtually wire" it to the midi out of the cubase track 5. If you want to trigger any external hardware synth, connect your midi interface OUT to the midi IN of your hardware synth. Choose the midi channel of your Cubase track with the same value on which your hardware synth is configured to receive midi data. This is something between 1-16 or all channels at the same time --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, "ekoklj" <ekoklj@...> wrote: > > > > i have a midi in and out cable going into my game port. thing is this > > is the first time i've used midi and i dont have the manual for the > > portakit, i cant seem to trigger the sounds in either of the software > > packages i have. > > > > thank you > > > > my apologies for posting the same thing again, i just really want to > get this kit working! >
