I recall reading that Simmons and someone from Ludwig helped construct a kit to adapt to his new playing style. I also remember hearing that Akai were involved, so I was wondering if SDX technology was used or if the work with Akai inspired the SDX. Information is sparse, which seems a bit ungrateful to me, if Simmons did help the guy go on to sell however many gazillion albums. Also I wonder if it is what inspired Simmons to move into the prosthetics research. I am not a huge Def Leppard fan, (and I apologise if I offend Mr.Allen in any way), but you can't question their success and I am a fan of the SDX. One was auctioned on e-bay about a 18 months ago, when I had just returned to the UK - I didn't bid for it and I think it went for less than GBP400 - I was gutted! Hi , from what I know Rick Allen used SDS9/ SDS7 & probably an MTM (or TMI ) After his accident , Simmons did a special kit for him . He effectively used a few SHark Pedals to replace his left arm. We can hear all thefat analog Simmons tomtoms' sounds on Hysteria , "In the round in your face "'s live is clearly Simmons printed too ... in 1989 , I've seen him in modern drummer advertising for ddrum, & recently hart dynamics pads... after the SImmons era he went onto some FORAT samplers. but yep I never heard of him using SDX... Hope that helps, PAtrice. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
