Vintage Simmons Drums (UK) Users Group

Greetings, gentlemen ­ I recently acquired an SDSV with the hihat and cymbal
modules, and I¹m wondering what can be done to recreate/impersonate the
signal output by the hi-hat pedal (which of course is MIA). I seem to
remember hearing that the pedal is some kind of optical device, and that
using a normal footswitch can damage the switch or (God forbid) the module.
Can anyone shed light on this particular subject? Thanks in advance for your
help ­ I¹m excited to be a part of this group ­ it¹s nice to know I¹m not
the only one who¹s brain was warped hexagonally as a youth by Thomas Dolby,
Naked Eyes and King Crimson :-)
