Vintage Simmons Drums (UK) Users Group

Hello everyone!
I'm a big fan of Simmons drums, but i live in damned Moscow, and here
nobody knows what this things are:)))
I owned SDS-200 and SDS-1000 from Japanese auction...
Never had problems with it:)
But now i'm owned a MTX-9 (for wide range of percussion on live scene)
and i have trouble - it's doesn't work..
Only chaotic changes of numbers and letters on screen and dirty
(sometimes clear:) self-triggerred (i don't touch the pads!) tom or
conga sounds... sometimes clap or cowbell...
Touching buttons and turning knobs takes no effect..
I'm not sure about it's memory, does that model use a battery for back
up presets? Can battery, if it's dead cause such problems?
Or it may be the voltage tricks? 
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
