I don't know for sure if that's the problem but that is what I would
guess. The SDS-7 exhibits the same behavior. I had two of them, one w/ a
questionable battery. Once that battery took a snooze it was anybodys guess when the
"7" would turn back on. I swapped batteries between the two units and the
problem disappeared until recently. I now have replacement batteries to solder
onto the PCBs of both units and my two MTMs. I'll let you know how it went.
