Vintage Simmons Drums (UK) Users Group

I hardly dare to ask, so all analog heads please forgive and skip this
posting ;-)
I am looking for any piece of documentation or any kind of information
about the formatting of the SDX floppies and/or SCSII drives (ZIP,
harddrive, whatever) concerning blocks and segments. Does anybody know
a system which can mount these volumes? Probably Ataris which also use
68k processors? 
My aim is to write a piece of software to read out and convert the
audio data and vice versa without leaving the digital layer.
Any suggestions are welcome!
