Hi Andrew , the SDX can be very reliable but sometimes not at all ... Ask the seller before buying , if he's honnest he will tell you . I have a good working unit since 11 years now but I had a lot of troubles as well in the beginning . & I've heard of some units bugging all the time . Yes it is really easy to work on ... A sort of small Fairlight ! A very Huge sound ; very digital with some analog filters ! Not as smooth to play as an SDSV . Therefore you can't compare the SDX with an SDSV or 7 ... it's a complete another world ! Take care to the bugs of the SDX if you buy it ; there are some minor catalog problems that you need to know before starting making sounds, saving them ... etc ... But it's a great unit when it works . don't forget to check the state of the FSR sensors of the pads when they are dead you need to replace them ... there aren't a lot available by our days . Hope this helps, Patrice. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Aw Shortman" <discipline_indiscipline@...> To: <Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Thursday, April 27, 2006 10:19 AM Subject: Re: [Simmons Drums] SDS7 EPROMS > Michael > > Thanks for the info. Checked out the website........fantastic. I'll open up the SDS7 and take a look at the Eprom. I have a chance to buy an SDX, would you consider this a good unit, and if so is it likely to be reliable or easy to work on. > > Thanks > > Andrew > > michael.buchner@... wrote: > Hi. > If you are able to burn Eproms by yourself, you can download the original > bin-file of the snare from www.simmonsmuseum.com.
