I experiment all the time so I don't really get what you mean... But do you mean feeding a tom into a rack and getting out a snare or a plane breaking the sound barrier or just sonic mayhem or what? If you want tones from the drums nothing beats controlling an analogue synthesiser via for example the TMI.
