Hi Jeff,
       It sounds like you you have a trigger that is bad. If you put 
your finger on the piezo trigger disc. And it starts to go crazy, you 
have a bad trigger. You can find them some times in a music store or I 
have some that I made in the days that I was playing. You didn't have 
time to send them back to Simmon. So I learned how to make my own and 
I still have a lot of them left. Also you can put a screw in the back 
of the pad and paint it to match the pad color so it want pop off.
       Let my know if my triggers will help you. They are just like 
the ones that Simmons made. And I made them to stand the test of time.
