i assume you are sending a gate signal from the expressionist (i have one too!) to trigger an envelope, yes? and that env is then controlling your VCA, perhaps? simply mix the env CV with your velocity CV in a CV mixer, in which case your VCA will be shaped as expected by your env, and be controlled further (amplified) by your velocity voltage.

Blake - thanks again for the reply - so I have gate 1
out to the gate on the asdr and the out of asdr into
the vca. In this setup I have cv 1 out into 1v/oct on
the nto - then I repatched the asdr cv out to my cv
pro along with cv out 3 (from exp.) which is set to
velocity . Still no effect. (no matter what the amount
is set to - on the exp.)
The exp. manual says that you use cv & gate as pairs
but cv 2 out tracks fine into another pco at the
1v/oct. without the corresponding gate. Where would
that (gate 2 out) go anyway ?? - g. man

is cv 3 set to the same midi channel as one?
