Re: "Random" modules

2001-05-22 by John Papiewski

The Random Source is Serge's all-in-one random signal module, delivering
white & pink audio noise, random pulse, random continuous, and random step
voltages rate-controlled by a knob and an associated voltage, and a
sample-and-hold which has the source available at a jack and is externally
triggered by a pulse or by your finger on the pushbutton.

The Random Voltage Generator is available only in California. It converts
the unpredictability of rolling blackouts into musically useful control
signals.

Seriously though, the RVG is not a standalone module like the RS but is
meant to be driven by another noise module, such as the Random Source or the
Noise Source, which supplies it some basic random voltages. The idea being,
you can make use of several different sources of random voltages or pulses,
each set to different rates, but you need only one source of white or pink
noise. So get a noise source or random source to start off with, and expand
your system later with RVG's and 2RVG's.

Yes Serge modules offer both 1v/oct and variable/inverting CV inputs on most
modules.

Good Luck
