Model 28: Going, going...almost gone

The first increment of M28's to Analogue Haven are almost sold out. A
second shipment of 14 units will be delivered next week.

I'm really looking forward to getting one. It should be here tomorrow, although I won't get a chance to play with it until Friday.

Good morning Peter,
again my question: when will some M28 arrive in Berlin at Schneiders Buero?
Best regards

Hello Forum,

i am a newbie here and would let you know that i connected my model 28
yesterday. It is really nice and i am excited. I bought it at AH and
it reached germany very quick. So if schneiders buero doesn`t have
some then buy at AH.

2007-07-28 by Axel Jungkunst

Hi meic,
thanks for your message. I ordered one some weeks ago at
SchneidersBuero, but
Plan B isn't able to send a package of modules to Berlin, I don't know why.
In the past this connection works always a bit slow, so I will wait a
few weeks more.
I can't imagine what is so difficult to send some little things from the
USA to Germany, it
seems to be a personal problem. George W. Bush is sending his things
faster, but he sends
really only wrong items :-) Although it isn't really funny, I know.
But the behaviour of Plan B is really sad.
Have fun with your model 28, someday I will have mine too.
We have a serious german dealer, who needs serious connections (which he
has in 99% of all cases)
and so I will buy my analogue gear in Berlin.
This is no statement against Analogue Haven, they do a very good job,
but we are on the other half of this planet,
and Planet Earth is ROUND, Peter!
All the best
Axel

Re: Model 28: Going, going...almost gone

Axel,

First, please leave political comments to a forum which welcomes them. This one isn't it.

Secondly, what's happened is sad. I completely agree. In June, my
production staff (1 guy) left the company without giving notice. As
you can imagine this screwed things up. Since then I've
hired three others. However, one of those three didn't work
out and is no longer here, one has another 'core' job at a recording
studio which is currently tracking a huge musical project for
Lionsgate Films so he's not as available as he was three or so weeks
ago the other has another job two days a week and now has left for avacation Friday for the next two weeks.

My intention was by having two guys when I can get them it would
get us to the same output as I had with one full-time guy. I think this is do-able, but they have to get up to speed. When the other guy
started there were five products. Now there are eleven, and actually
two more we're building that have not yet been announced. It's harder
to familiarize yourself with things with almost three times the
products so it's taking longer to get up to speed.

When production slowed to a complete halt in June (we didn't ship for over four weeks) it effected our cash flow and that effected our ability to procure parts, pay employees and ship long distance. We needed the $$ immediately and I was forced to concentrate on local dealer deliveries. It was that critical. Our only option was to close shop and trust me guys...we came close.

I thank you all for being patient with us. We're working hard to get back to where we were.

All of our dealers who had open orders were made aware of what happened -- as soon as it happened, including Andreas.

Peter,
I apologize the circumstances, but why don't you tell us those things
within this mailing list.
So all the people including your dealers will know about your particular
circumstances
and they will wait until better times.
I know that some guys including mine are waiting for some ordered
modules at SchneidersBuero.
I really could need a model 28 for some new sequences with multitrigger
effects for a
production of a friend of mine, but finally I know after your answer
that I have to do it otherwise.
So I will be patient and solve the problem by unusual ways, life goes on.
all the best
Axel

sorry to hear about the problems peter.I know the ins and outs of small business , cash flow and also staff issues and had all these. The only way we survive is via having our own online shop.We sell through dealers and we sell via paypal on an online shop also.We make 30% more via direct orders and dont have to wait for cash turn around and its amazing how many people prefer buying direct now .This maybe a good option the future , paypals % is way less than dealers and people can always cover import tax if the price they pay is ok in relation to retailer prices.A plan b Ebay shop would also be an option though analogue haven seem like great guys to deal through .For us we would be broke selling music if it wasnt for direct sales as in the music business trying to get paid by wholesalers is very bad or basically they pay when they get more cds or sell out ! cash flow ? there is none with music / cd sales - they always owe . . .. anyway hope things pan out and also the products continue to get made as i want more ! .We have no plan b dealer in uk and so i use analogue haven and import and i get better response via email from them than any uk company i ever used ! including a certain doepfer dealer in the uk who is so bad i now buy from germany ! and us ! rather than the uk distributer so guys outside us , maybe go to analogue haven , they seem very cool people .They only take your cash / order when stuffs in .Perfect and i quite like importing items.I cant understand peoples grief but also the mission impossible thats running business on low cash flow and with staff going off or leaving.

You should have also made your end-users aware of this issue as soon
as it happened via this mail list. Look at the way Paul Schreiber
does this on the MOTM list, and emulate that. Being proactive always
beats being reactive. It's easier, it takes less time up and it looks
better too.

The package we discussed over the phone on June 29th hasn't shown up
here yet. Am I going to have to phone you up again?

I did.

In a letter sent to this group on May 26th entitled 'Tim Johnston', I
mentioned that he had left and that Brian Fedirko had stepped in
temporarily (which has now become permanently). The interviewing that
took place brought in another guy who didn't work out. I've since
contracted Jon Betton, who works at my neighborhood Starbucks two days
a week, who comes in M/W/F. He's doing a great job and I'm pretty
sure will be with us for some time. I'll update the site as soon as I
can with their photos.

As far as disclosing operational setbacks, I see little point in doing
this until it becomes absolutely nessesary, or at very least not until
a solution has been put into play and that's basically what I did
yesterday. When there's a room full of new employees before we know if
they're going to work out or not is not the time to do that.
