Model 14's released

Model 14's released

2006-08-11 by (i think you can figure that out)

I'm happy to announce that the first shipment of the Model 14
Dual Processors will be at our US dealer Analogue Haven either
tomorrow (Sat) or Monday.

One of these units will remain in the store as a demo unit, the
others will be available for sale. There will be more delivered in
the next couple of weeks to both AH and our European dealers.

The releaase was delayed for a couple of months for circuit
improvements. The crossfader is now Equal Power Transfer -
meaning there is no apperet loss of amplitude in the center
position. So along with crossfading DC coltrol voltages, it works
quite well for crossfading AC signals. Of course this means it
can also be used as a high quality linear VCA (it uses a linerized
SSM2164 quad VCA chip).

The functionality of the two OFFSET pots have also been
modified. While before it was merely a +/- output processing pot,
it is now truly an OFFSET, meaning it procude a voltage of it's
own so that informaiton summed at the inputs can be offset
positely or negatiively. When the offset pot is set to the cennter
poition, it's taken out of the circuit altogether. Much much better.

This weekend Iwe will also begin the initial assembly and test of
the Model 10 Polyphonic EG. They should be in stores in the
next week.

keep your eyes on the EAR site for photos and soundbytes in the
next couple of days.

best,

hello peter,
great news about the new module.
what's the price, panel width and current draw of this
new module?
best regards,
Bakis.

RE: [PLAN_B_analog_blog] My VCO Arrived

2006-08-11 by Zoran Bosnjak

Peter,

I received my oscillator. It is chugging in the background, cross-modulated
by my other Plan B VCO, and what can I say? It sounds menacing (those great
soothing sounds it is capable to produce I will repatch when I am in a
better mood), with a lots of character. That's what I wanted. You are a
great designer, and in right hands, these oscillators might have a lot of
impact on the world of electronic music.

By the way, the oscillator was double-packed (box in a box, with bubble wrap
all over it). Regards,

Zoran

Re: Model 14's released

2006-08-12 by (i think you can figure that out)

BAKIS!

Good to hear from you, my friend.

The M14 is being sold at an intro price of $225, which is a great
deal considering it's roughly equivilent to three Doepfer A-138c's,
a A-172, a A-132 and a A-138a. We're offering it at this price for a
limited period as a thanks to everyone for being patient for it's
release.

The M14 is 18HP wide, the same as the VCO.

Current draw fluctuates greatly, which is to be expected with a
three-in-one module. Sitting inactiive, it's at about 50A. With all
inputs used and the unit being crossfaded via a VC, it runs at
about 80mA when both LEDs are off, but rises to about 100mA
when they're on at full intensity.

Left unattended, a single one element (one color) LED can pull
up to 40mA by itself. I've tempered the current down a bit which
in this instance is fine...these dual colored jobs are super bright.
How bright? They make the knobs around them glow when at
full intesity. You might considering sunscreen and welding
glasses when using this guy!

Bakis..l.the M14s will be shipping to Schneider's in about a
week.

We always do this. The very first single shipment of an M15 was
crushed by Fedex, which is usually the best of the big three here
in the US (Fedex, UPS, USPS). UPS is the worst - to be avoided
at all costs.

Anyway, that was enough for me. We may put two modules in a
single inner box, but we never simply wrap the contents up and
drop it into a single container. These things are delicate and
there's nothing worse than waiting for something just to have it
crushed to smithereens when you get it.

Current ratings of Plan B gear

2006-08-12 by (i think you can figure that out)

Bakis brigs up a valid concern here - we don't list our current
ratings for each module on our siite, and that's a probem.\

I've recently purshased a full-bore regulated bgench supply
which makes these measurements easy --> there's a LCD
screen for both the positiive and negative rails which indicate
voltage and current for each. I've uplooad a photo of this new
beast in in the gallery section of this yahoo group.

I will update all released module pages on the EAR site with
accurate current data this weekend. Thanks foor bring ing this
up, Bakis.

hello peter,
thank you for the info!
it seems that i'll have to pick one up soon...
so, you better send the m14 to andreas soon.
many thanks, :-)
best regards,
Bakis.
