believe all the hype....

believe all the hype....

So I got my Plan B modules (VCO, LPG, filter).

I've got to say that the vco/lpg combo sound identical to Morton
Subotnick's recordings of the Buchla. More so than my 200e!
Mind you, I think the 200e has a beautiful, distinctive character all
its own, but if it is the old 60's-70's Buchla you guys are after,
this is the way to go (and much cheaper, I might add). The PWM also
gives a beautiful chorus effect (great low end!). I'm gonna try
feeding the Model 15 into the 292e for a comparison test with the Plan
B lpg.

Nicely done, Peter......

Cool

I love the Buchla Subotnik sound, and as with everyone dreamed of owning
a Buchla one day ...a bit hard to do here in Australia, so I bought the
next best thing a Serge modular, and am now buying the Model 12 and 15,
I have also ordered the Doepfer Quantised/Stored Random Voltages (149-1
) ...cant wait to get the into my system...Id like to see Peter make
more Buchlaish models

Cuari,

thanks for the kind words. these types of comments are really
appreciated. I was happy to finally get that order out!

Regarding the comparison, you'll notice Model 13 has a bit more
low end in the combined 'both' mode than the 200e's 292. Mine
uses a different approach than Buchla's, although as it comes
out the speakers the Model 13 is closer to the sound of the
original 200's lowpass gate combined mode.

If any of you have access to one of the original 292 you'll notice a
slightly different sound in 'LP' mode over the Dual Timbral Gate.
It's the resonance - mine's a bit sharper.

well nice one for getting the order out there peter , without a doubt you have a fantastic line here man , ok so the production lines maybe not quite yamaha yet but i know a lot of people really into the plan b stuff aswell as livewire and buzzing off the sound.
Keep em rolling and i look forward to a milton in particular when they become available..
PS
Faster ! (in a layed back kind of way )

believe all the hype & Model 24 Heisenberg Gen.

2006-08-05 by (i think you can figure that out)

ALong those lines...

We are delivering 9 M15s, 8 M12s and 4 M17s to Analogue
Haven tomorrow. There's a simular sized order going to Eurpoe
the week after that.

Next week there's a quantity of M13'S AND THE NEW M10 AND
M14'S going to Analogue Haven as well.

The Heisenberg Generator, our first digital module and what has
shaped up to be one hell of a Random Voltage Source was
discovered by someone today on AH (It's up on the EAR Group
site now - see Model 24), will be in stores in about a month, with
another two new ones coming shortly after that.

I''ll go into a bit more detail on the Heisenberg this weekend,
right now I've got four guys here finishing the AH order and two
cutom jobs, got to get back to the wheel here but look out for
more on this topic later...

Re: [PLAN_B_analog_blog] wow and system question..

Wow , will you be basically making more peter as these sell and always producingh these or are they limited editions and will you end production on items over time ?
As far as system design goes if i wanted a 3-4 vco system capable live of 2 - 3 timbre
stuff what kind of balance of model 13 etc would be sensible , its the same old question , is 1 enough ?:)

Re: wow and system question..

2006-08-05 by (i think you can figure that out)

the Model 15 are definately not a limited run. They will be
produced for a s long as I'm making analog.

As far as the number of Model 13 for a system wiith 3 - 4 VCOs,
i'd recommend two (a total of four gates).

Remember though - the Model 13 cannot gate control voltqges,
only AC. I did this for the simple reason that the vactrol, which
give it it's distinct sound for AC, tend to add too much slew for
control voltages. If you'd like however, you can easily modify
them so that they will in fact gate DC. Feel free to contact me
offline for directions but be wared - this mod may cause
'bumping' when its installed - meaning you'll hear a slight thump
sound with fast evelopes when the gate is openned quickly (zero
attack). The good news is, this mod can be easily removed. Ho
traces are cut, you just have to short out two components on
each gate.

Much cleaner gating of cotnrol voltages can be with eithera
Deopfer A131or Plan B Model 14 however - no slewing. this is
the route i'd recommend.
