[ModularSynthPanels] Solder Recommendations....

[ModularSynthPanels] Solder Recommendations....

2007-11-09 by James Elliott

Can someone please recommend a good organic solder to use for module building (both washable & non-wash)? Something preferably at Mouser or Allied (or some other reliable supplier in the USA). I ran out of my supply (which was nothing but a bunch of leftovers from various kits), and I need to buy some asap.

Sorry for such a newbie'ish question, and thanks for your understanding :)

Regards,
Jim

I do mostly SMD and have been using

Kester 24-6337-6422 15mil diameter solder, SN63PB37, water soluble flux
and Kester 2331-ZX Water Soluble Flux Pen.

My tools and supplies page is at

Re: Solder Recommendations....

I use Multicore Hydro-X, .032in .81mm. This works great. It is thin and I can can control
the amount of solder I use better. I am concerned about the lead content but that
combined with the Crystal no-clean as a partner covers nearly all of my needs. I also use
Vampire p#S04 4% silver solder for high end cables and other voodoo items.

I feel these are good choices but the environmental aspect troubles me, I have also arrived
at these choices myself and would be interested if anyone disagrees or has a better
suggestion
