Gino,
First, can you point me to some of the generic panels?
Here's a video explaining my project. I'm using a behringer
controller for the knobs at this point, but w/o the LED, I don't
have a good reference for what connections are being made.

The Corral Snake Matrix switch is a dual 8x8 audio(or DC) switch
with a range of +/- 5v.

I'd like to put this LED matrix on/behind a panel, perhaps
something like the picture below.
The knobs would select column (output) and the (single) associated
input row.
The USB connection allows all of these settings to be made via
MIDI, so the LED would change to reflect the connections either
from the knobs or via MIDI.
Most inputs/outputs would be hardwired behind the panel (e.g.
multiple waveforms as inputs from one or more oscillators). So,
the jacks would be there to manually reroute the outputs, for
added flexibility. Perhaps a combination of ins/outs would be
used instead of all outputs, but for the sake of panel economy,
most of these connections would be hardwired.
Each LED display has two rows of 8 pins to control the LED
matrix. The "trough"s (slots) would allow the display to connect
"through" the panel to the PCB with socket on the back.
Note that I have not shown the holes needed to secure the pcb to
the panel. They do need to be added.
