db800 oanels

Were there ever any DB800 panels made in any volume.
DB800 was and MOTM800 EG daughterboard by Tellun (which means amazing) that added a comparator and an led to the original MOTM module. I don't know what else it did, at some point I thought it made the EG faster which is something that gets Moog wonks excited.

I never built one or stocke the parts which is unusual for me. It probably happened on Electro- Muisc.  They are kind've like my last stop when browsing. Too many places to go, I like mailing lists.

I never even heard about it.... but always did think, "Where's the LED"? :)

The Db-800 is listed as currently available from Scott Juskiw - http://www.tellun.com/motm/diy/db800/DB-800.html

I've got them on all 4 of my 800's.

You don't really need a different panel for the leds - just drill 2 holes and you can fit them on an existing panel -

The Tellun DB800 is a daughter board for the MOTM-800.

http://www.tellun.com/motm/diy/db800/DB-800.html

It is based on some mods for the 800 that I breadboarded.  The DB-800 has two LEDs, one for gate and one for output level.  It is easy enough for a DIY-er to drill holes in the MOTM-800 panel for these.  Two of my MOTM-800s use my original breadboard and two use the Tellun board.  I used only the output level LED.

Here's my MOTM-800 page.

As others have noted, you can use the MOTM-800 panel if you can drill holes for the LEDs. I wouldn't bother stocking a separate panel just for this. I've only got 1 DB800 left and no plans to get any more.

Hi Gino - guys

Will and I built the 800DBs for our five *))s and drilled 2 holes in each of the stock 800 panels from Synth Tech.

Here's how we did it:

http://www.dragonflyalley.com/constructionMOTM800.htm

The 800DBs were the very first thing we built - while we were waiting for our first MOTM kits to arrive. So we screwed a couple of them up (we're re-building those). But we love having both LEDs - one for the gate - one for the envelope.

You know - it should be pretty easy to build the 800DB on a MUUB4, sound right Scott J? Maybe I can get Will to lay that out and write instructions for it.

the LEDs could be done w/ a couple of Ken Stone's LED Driver blocks (http://www.cgs.synth.net/modules/cgsld.html). the comparator would be easy to breadboard, but if you're driving w/ a clean gate signal it won't speed up anything.

Re: [ModularSynthPanels] Re: db800 oanels

You could build a DB 800 on a MUUB 4 board, if you used my comparator
circuit (see link on my page) instead of Scott's. His DB 800 uses three
ICs, but there are only two on the MUUB 4. You would have to omit the
gate LED. Also, since the MUUB 4 is larger than the MOTM-800 board, you
might have some tricky fitting to do.

Nobody mentioned the clipper part of the DB 800. Actually I was the one
who came up with it. (I took the circuit from Electronotes.) The
MOTM-800 has a behavior that I thought was a design flaw: when
triggered rapidly the output voltage can rise above 5V. I first
discovered this by ear when the the result was an alarming increase in
the output of the VCA being controlled. The clipper limits the output
to +5V max. It has no impact on lower voltages. (Note that the clipper
works on the internal envelope, which is 0-10V).
