Any CGS/MOTM panels laying around?

Any CGS/MOTM panels laying around?

2003-12-04 by Roger Rossen

Hello All,

Just thought I'd check in, and see if anyones got any MOTM-ized CGS
panels they might be into selling (so my family can have a
Christmas!) for the following:

2 - Infinite Melodies (I know, you say why do I need 2 when 1, is
infinite?)
2 - Super Psycho LFOs
2 - Wave Mults

I can't remember what else now...

If you do - please shoot me a pic or .fpg format and save us both,
time from trying to explain it in verbage...there's so many
variations on a theme out there and I just get confused easily these
days...

Oh, and please, if you happen to have a panel, and live in say,
Bornio, and you're asking 20(in whatever currency you good folks use
over there) and yet the shipping will be $8000 in US coin - kindly
refrain from this request.

And Larry, if you have some of these locked away in your underground
vault, would you consider making someones Christmas just a little
brighter? My beautiful 3 year-old daughter has epilepsy, cancer, and
aids...(enter...the violins)

OK - Just goofin here - don't get upset now!

Thanks in advance to all,

Rog

That bug seems to be going around. Last year I told Larry Hendry I was
going to fit my entire module into the 26U of space in my first dot com
cabinet. He just snickered :). Now 16 months later I have 2U of space
left in my SECOND dot com cabinet and 8U of new modules planned!

The only panels lying around here are some original MOTM panels that
were replaced by Stooge panel upgrades (320R, 120R, and Oakley-MOTM S&H
combo). That is 2 MOTM-320, 1 MOTM 120 (with additional hole for CLOCK
OUT), and original MOTM-101. These each have a companion MOTM-style
bracket that bolts to studs embedded in the panel. The brackets are all
the size of the Stooge 4-pot short bracket. You might be able to
repaint or cover the front of these panels for your own design. If
anyone is interested I will sell them for $10 each (panel with bracket)
plus some postage.

Thanks Richard,

I rememeber your offer on another (Blacet) panel awhile back also -
And I've noticed that you've been quite productive with this 'malady'
too!

I still can't stop feeling that something needs to be done regarding
better options and methods for doing your own panels, that also look
good. (urgh!) - Thats the catch obviously. My mind has not stopped
along these lines. Yet one has to balance this research/time with
just getting a module done and popped into the mix with the rest -
and this sorry and very impatient bloak, gets too anxious
waiting...like my daughter now, asking "whens it gonna be Christmas"
about 40 times a day now. I understand her pain! LOL

I bought about 10 CGS boards awhile back and now I've got them all
stuffed and ready to go - with nowhere to go...except for 2.
I'm sure everyone here has had similiar experiences...!?

(I must add that Ken's boards really go quickly with his 'style' of
silk screening - something I think is probably very
underrated...others may learn from this ?!?!)

My immediate problem is (is it really a problem?) that I have several
friends/acquaintances who either do or have access to laser or CNC
gear and they've all said they would do panels for me. I'm sure
it'll cost some bucks, but I still am into my own designs...then
again, I have or am getting close to a rather large MOTM based system
and I am now wondering about altering the 'aesthetic' at this point.
Oh the decisions....

Then again, I'm probably just being too anal about the whole thing.
And also, getting rather broke...its too bad that my insurance
doesn't cover this medical affliction. HHHmmmmmmmmm.

But thanks again for all the offers - I look forward to seeing the
evolution of your system/designs/modules, I'm just barely starting
that aspect of DIY, with my own stuff - Keep up the good work!

Regards,

Rog

I have an extra panel for the CGS Saw Pitch Shifter, if anyone is
intersted ten bucks and shipping...

I do have 4 each of all the panels you want. However, my step
grandson has terminal brain cancer and his make-a-wish project was to
build grand-dad some new modules for Christmas. So, I cannot part
with any of them.

First liar has not chance <snicker>
Truthfully, I have not a one.\

And, I do recommend the wave multplier. I'm not too hot about the
grinder section. It's O.K. But, the rest of it is really hot.

As you may know, our main goal at Stooge insustries has been to match
Paul's MOTM finish and look. However, it should be considerably
cheaper and maybe better looking to do anodized panels with engrave
graphics.

I will be visiting my metal shop this coming week for estimates on a
run of 19" rack panels 3rd party. I am going to look into what MOTM
style panels would cost anodized with engraved lettering.

The Wave Multiplier is one of my all time faves. The grinder is good for
grungy kinds of sounds, though I agree it's not the miracle circuit of the
multiplier. I think there may still be an old sound sample of mine that I
put on the CGS group that uses the grinder with the wave multiplier to tear
a triangle wave a new one.

Cheers,
Scott

My experience with anodizing, which may be 20 years out of date but maybe
not, is that it is more expensive than painted panels and more prone to
color variation. Grant Richter's experience at Wiard indicates this hasn't
changed much. It is more durable however, as is the engraved lettering.
AFAIK only Wiard and Modcan use anodized panels, and Wiard still has silk
screen lettering while Modcan uses the "inverse anodized" lettering rather
than engraved.

Hi Howard,

If you still have it, I'll take it!
