scrapping a Korg Mono/Poly

scrapping a Korg Mono/Poly

2009-06-10 by stevemodularland

I found a MonoPoly buried in my backyard, in decent cosmetic but mostly dysfunctional shape...

Is there anything on this thing worth salvaging aside from knobs?

ALL!

It's one of those synths You want to keep, even as non-functional or
to get it fixed. There's nothing quite like X-mod and Sync both
engaged and controlling pitch of the Synced OSCs with the wheel.

I hate myself for selling mine and If I had money, I'd make an offer..
still, thee *bay is the best option, if You REALLY want to get rid of
it.

its totally broken- would cost more to ship than I could sell for on eBay... only useful as parts... if there are any useful parts!

Definitely! There are some SSM chips in there. The SSM2044 VCF is worth maybe $15 (it's the one SSM that's fairly readily available), but the four VCO chips (SSM2030?) are probably worth 30 to 50 bucks each.

The power supply, if working, would be worth something to a DIY guy, since it produces the "standard" +/- 15 volt outputs.

Can you save any of the keys? The rightmost key is often cracked, so people look for those once in a while.

It *REALLY* was in a landfill? BASTARDS!

Try http://www.vintageplanet.nl/ to evaluate the parts.. the trouble
is that SSM2044 VCF is fairly common and VCO chips seem to never fail.
;) It's no good

The SSM2033 VCO chips should be quite useful and there will probably be
stuff
like 2SK30 FETs and matched transistor pairs in there.
