And now Fixed Filter Bank PCBs are in!

And now Fixed Filter Bank PCBs are in!

2008-07-24 by Scott Deyo

YuSynth Fixed Filter Bank PCBs in stock!
They're huge! They need a 2-pot and a 3-pot bracket; the 4-pot is
_just_ too short.

I also have all the parts for the component kits -- resistor arrays, a
lot of different cap values, etc.

Great! I'm so glad you have Yusynth PCB's now. I thought I was gonna
have to get my hands dirty ;)

Can you put individual outs, or do you need additional buffers?

Looking at the schems, I actually don't believe buffers are needed.
Just use a 1K from the output of each band to a jack. You can get that
output from the left lug of each pot (as seen from back, with lugs
hanging down). They will be inverted, though.

If folks are interested in that, I can make some of the new batch of
Multiples panels into a 16-out panel. I'd just need to whip up a
silkscreen for it. 14 bands... any ideas for the other two holes?

word.

I would buy two of these! Don't know what to do with the other two
holes, though. -- skw

classic jeweled panel light with bright LED in one,
classic panel button in the other,
labelled "Lamp Test"

'cause every module with a panel light needs a Lamp Test button

It's true that you don't need buffers for this, but in our
consideration about doing the separate outputs, we decided that,
because our primary application will be in recording, the difference
in phase between the separate and other outputs could possibly create
audible - well - oddities however subtle. So to be safe, we're
putting buffer/inverters on all separate outputs.

In our case, the whole idea of separate outputs I blame on
now-soon-to-be-17-year-old Will anyway. I could think of no real
application for it - but I acquiesced (an expensive indulgence,
perhaps). But now I can think of a reason to do it. And I'm glad our
building process has been so delayed on this, because realizing this
possible application has brought up a construction issue.

But as this over-laps with Scott Juskiw's JH String filter thread, I'm
going to take the subject up there, OK?

One of the other 2 holes could be a direct or "dry" output (no
filtering). That's what Will and I plan for our 22-band version.
Why? Oh - 'cause there's room for it - and 'cause we can - and why
not - and sometimes ya just gotta say "What the frill."
