Frac Panel interest?

Frac Panel interest?

2008-07-23 by Scott Deyo

Hello All,

Now that I'm delving into thinner metals for DotCom, is there any
interest out there for Frac format stuff?
I can't do CGS or Ian stuff (see Metalbox and Elby Designs for those),
but it would be easy to lay out MFOS and YuSynth stuff, maybe the 'Bug,
stuff like that.
I'd expect panels to be $20 for 2U, maybe even less.
I don't think I'd put out any MFOS stuff obviously already done so well
by Blacet, but I'm open to suggestions.
I'd have to come out w/ a new bracket, 4 .375" holes at 1.15" spacing,
which might be valuable in itself.

Whatchyall think?

Yes and yes. I think you should still consider CGS as there are plenty of CGS modules not covered by Metalbox. A ton actually. I'd also love a panel for the SNVoice in frac as i'll be building 3 of them shortly.

Glad to hear you're considering this route.

Well, I'm just beginning to delve a little into that area with a new PAiA 9700 and will be very happy to add some other fancy modules to make live modular performance a bit more likely than hauling around my monster 1/4" rig:)

Yes, Interested in Frac format CGS, like Wave Multi, Cynare, Drum Sim etc

Scott just mentioned he won't be doing those particular CGS module panels as they're covered by Metalbox but there are bunch of other CGS modules that metalbox and elby aren't making that i'd love to see done. the VCO, modulo magic, most of the mixers and vca's, infinite melody, utility lfo, sub-oscillator, steiner filter, V8 Engine, etc.

lots of ground to cover with all the great Ken Stone designs.

Re: Frac Panel interest?

I think that I screwed up my last post.

YES!!! Bring forth the Blacet! I’ve got tons of projects scheduled and the parts are accumulating. I hate making panels enough to order them from Europe in order to avoid it. Bad-ass panels for a fader-equipped version of the Klee would be highly cool as well.

Re: Frac Panel interest?

2008-07-23 by data2action

i thot you'd never ask. YES, absolutely.

also, i appreciate & respect your consideration for metalbox--very
glad to see that kind of integrity. but my sense is there's not so
much overlap between DIYers and folks who want to build complete
modules. and i can imagine them actually selling more prebuilt
modules if their front panels included dial markings etc... might
lower their costs, too. so maybe there could be some mutual benefit
to everyone if you did panels for their modules, and also sold them
naked for us solderhuffers. worth asking, i think.

Re: [ModularSynthPanels] Re: Frac Panel interest?

Yeah, I'll feel out the situ.
I wouldn't mind just doing panels, and no full kits or assembled
modules.
I want to be considerate, but I also want DIYers to have nice panels.
The mutual benefit thing might work, though I think I brought it up to
Metalbox before.
I'll keep all y'all posted, sounds like there is plenty of interest!

I would be very interested in FracRack Panels, too. I have a Tau Phaser,
Mankato, JH FS1A, waiting for FracRack panel designs. I've got one for the
frequency shifter mostly done, but it is quite bare bones.

I'm looking to get a Tau Phaser kit soon aswell, and would be making
it into a Frac panel. Does anyone have a design for this already?

Thx

Frac... early next year is what I'm thinkin'.

Awesome. I'd especially be interested in a Woggle #3 panel for Frac - but just doing Frac in
general would make me very happy!
