Mellotronists

Baby Can it be True?

Heard someone saying on the BBC documentary that this is the first
appearance of the mellotron on record, but there's a few tracks before
it on the album which feature the mellotron. 

Isn't it on their 'Lease on Love' single as well, which pre dates the
There's A Bond Between Us?

Yes - another error, although they got this one right on the '98
programme...

mentioned Baby Can It Be True? as being the first.

Definitely '98. Did it? I was sure it was 'Lease on Love'. Oh well, digging
out the tape soon to transfer to CD, so I'll find out then.

Yes, you are correct because it was John saying the same thing!   He has 
never heard of the other track and neither had I or anyone else we know  until 
now.
