I guess I'm glad I don't live in China...I don't think they have their version of Wheel Of Fortune on TV, their board version of Scrabble, nor a big crossword puzzle in their Sunday newspapers. (And they still haven't figured out how they're going to get people in Hong Kong to drive on the right side of the road)

Darn, I think I did it again! ...or tape replay machines. But they do have giant Budweiser signs outside the Dali Lama's summer palace in Llhasa. --- In Mellotronists@yahoogroups.com, "mellotrongirl" <mellotrongirl@h...> wrote: > I guess I'm glad I don't live in China...I don't think they have their > version of Wheel Of Fortune on TV, their board version of Scrabble, > nor a big crossword puzzle in their Sunday newspapers. > > (And they still haven't figured out how they're going to get people in > Hong Kong to drive on the right side of the road)

If they didn't have golf either, I'd move there. Sounds idyllic!

At least they didn't invent the Edsel or the Pinto!
Meanwhile, the Birmingham auto industry is bloody well owned by them!

Sounds idyllic! It isn't popular yet, but I've seen some nice courses here. They do have some interesting game shows, though. And the soap operas are as bad as anywhere. > > > > (And they still haven't figured out how they're going to get people in > > Hong Kong to drive on the right side of the road) > > At least they didn't invent the Edsel or the Pinto! > Meanwhile, the Birmingham auto industry is bloody well owned by them! > http://www.freep.com/money/autonews/irep23e_20050723.htm The most common cars here are Volkswagon, Audi, Buick, Mercedes, Cadillac and Kia. Some really nice 3 and 4 story houses between Shanghai and Hangzhou, mostly belonging to the farmers. Some folks here are making pretty serious $$$. Bernie

Hey!
Let's not forget that, thanks to China and their
agressive tech industry, we can now afford some very
decent microphones with which to record our amplified
'trons and such. China's tendency towards mass
production of German other such design interpretations
has most definitely changed the recording industry.
Previously prohibitively- priced gear is now being
built inexpensively and quickly by the Chinese and
companies like Studio Projects and Pacific Pro Audio
make some fairly nice, reliable mics for the money.
Just a little re-connecting of the subject
matter.

Yeah - I've managed to pick up a few different Chinese manufactured mics from SE Electronics - very well priced. Currently considering the Nady ribbon mic, get 'em now! With the recent decoupling of the Chinese currency from the American dollar, I suspect those prices will be going up. A friend of mine just returned from China, after spending a couple years there. He managed to start a little business by manufacturing hemp-products. Cheap labor and factories - he managed to become a bit of an industrialist. ...now, if someone started a Mellotron factory in China... -jh --- Jack Younger <e4103s@...> wrote:
