It was a fun weekend. I got to hang out with Fritz Doddy and Jimmy Moore. I supplied two Mellotrons for Wobbler and they sounded just great (as did the band). Much thanks to Jimmy for his help throughout and for saving my ass at the last minute. If you've never been to NEARfest, go. It was a blast.

yeah, i feel like a schmuck for not going AGAIN this year.
one of the performers has sent the label i work for his demo.

see: www.alon.tv

he doesn't use a "real" tron [he uses the m-tron instead].
did anybody catch his act?

it featured the "alonomorphic control station", which is a mac
laptop running digital performer with lots of plugins, a yamaha
digital console, an eventide harmonizer, and his guitar rig.

i spoke to him last thursday before he left for the FEST.
nice chap.
not sure if we will be signing him to the label, but i dug
the CD he sent.

Frank is right -- it was a blast! Dang, I didn't know Jimmy Moore was there, too. I also got to hang out by Fritz's table and might have helped him sell one CD. I'm still waiting for the commission check. (I wonder if he's holding it because I gave him such a hard time about his Yankee's hat.) And got to finally meet Frank as well. His mellotrons performed flawlessly! And apparently they are for sale! (Check with Frank.)

My favorite acts this year were Kenso, Present, PFM, Matthew Parmenter and Le Orme. Not to say the rest of the bands weren't also good! But overall a strong lineup this year, maybe the strongest overall lineup of all the NFs I've been to (this was my 5th in six years). Too bad more bands didn't take advantage of the trons. Good to see old acquaintances again and to meet some new faces.
