Mellotronists

Just got the Genesis Platinum Collection CD. Some interesting remixes of  
some of the original versions, though thankfully no re-recording as on certain  
other recent releases. I can live with remixes on the basis that it should  
theoretically bring out the best of the original recording using more modern  
signal processing etc. And it does!
I was always told that TB used Mellotron on Many to Many, but until now not  
really believed it as it was swamped by Polymoog? strings on the original mix. 
 But here you can really hear it nicely, though the balance reverts back to  
type towards the end of the song which is a shame.This collection does show  
however that both performance and original recordings from 1975 on were pretty  
amazing for their time. M2M really sounds fantastic even by today's standards 
 and would make a very good re-release as a single. Also good are the remixes 
of  Follow you, Follow me, Duchess and Ripples.
Not bad, not bad at all.
