Projectron?

Projectron?

2004-12-08 by thomasooo2003

A little question related to Mellotrons I guess, or to early
experiments with samplers, who knows, just because I am
always curious when I can't find good answers after searching
the www. OK, has anyone informations what exactly a
"PROJECTRON" is? It's been used (or at least credited) on the
early albums of Alan Parsons Project - "which" has not used
Mellotrons as far as I know. Who knows something more?

I think the Projectron was Alan Parson's attempt to build a next-generation
Mellotron with all the features he could imagine in 1976, including the
capability to record samples, play loops, and be controllable electronically
- a music making "I Robot".

Regards,
Jim

Eric Woolfson

The Mellotron - " ... if I take one on the road I would think after four or
five days you will find me in a field with petrol and it will be burning. "
- R Wakeman

-I believe the Projectron was a 16/24 track board playing loops of
sustained sounds ala "I'm Not In Love" by 10cc...the sounds played
with the console faders
