Hi all,

This is my first message, as I'm a non-owner so far, so haven't had anything to contribute until this question came up. I was fortunate enough to see King Crimson on 3 occaisions 1972-3 and have been a tron fanatic ever since;

December 1972 March and October 73. All at Birmingham Town Hall. The tickets for the first two cost me just 90 pence, can you believe? Amazing gigs.

Or, Hawkwind Feb 72 would have been first, if they used tron on tour, same venue. Can't say I remember much about that one musically, but being 15 years old I was pretty well entertained by Stacia the dancer!

Other 70s gigs include; PFM November 73, Tangerine Dream Oct 75 same venue. Genesis 1976 Stafford Bingley Hall. .......and so on.

Recent tron gigs I've seen; Julian Cope at Stoke-on-Trent and Musical Box at Wolves Civic. Both superb and made me even more addicted to the sound of the tron. Although Schizoid band were wonderful at the Robin, Bilston last year, I would have been even happier to see Ian McDonald playing the real thing.

Paul Jones (I'm not a number, just a name, but not for very much longer)

They only used one on their first two albums with Simon House, '74-5, though it's possible they used it live a little longer. I s'pose I should ask, seeing as how the band I'm in have suppoerted them several times...

Afraid The Musical Box were using a sampler in a Mellotron-shaped box (spot the four sounds during the set!). Saint Julian, on the other hand... :-)
