Is wondering what an average condition MkII would run? Also how often 
do they really go up for sale?

The last two MkII's that showed up on eBay were in the $16K range (and in 
need of major repair - figure another $5K).  A rebuilt/reconditioned MkII 
from Streetly goes for roughly $12K. and will work right out of the box.  
Availability comes and goes, just be vigilant in your search.  Email me 
privately for information on two that may be available in the L.A. area.
