Let's get this straight before I start- I LOVE my Mellotron, she always
delivers magic and she's reliable.

The 35 note business is the ONLY thing about these splendid devices that
bugs me. Even 37 would be better, just because I rather like my keyboards to
run C to C, F to F etc. Even though I've owned her for ten years and play
her most days I still trip up and end up trying to play the cheekblocks-
especially if I'm playing another keyboard at the same time. Aargh! Perhaps
one day I'll score an M300..

By the way, does anybody have an EMS VCS3 that they might consider selling?
I don't mind if it's dead- I'm quite happy to fix these things nowadays.
Just thought I'd ask. I'm in England, near Birmingham.

Yours with filthy fingers from a day spent playing with engines..

Well, now that you mention, the Pro Soloist has 37, my Roland S10 has
49, never thought about why though.

I have an M300 which has just 33 notes on the right hand manual and to
be honest the worst thing about it is the lack of range at the top
which ends in the top C of the standard mellotron range. You just
can't get those searing top violin notes which are much more useful
than the extended lower end range of down to E on the right hand
manual. Also because all non-M300 sounds have to be stretched to reach
down to E they begin to sound a bit unsual.
However - this is just a small irritation in what is basically the
next best thing to a MkII and I love to bits in every other way.
