If you can spare a small fortune, and if you really, really like the Mellotron, you might want to go for both the Pinder cd and the M-Tron. Pinder's rendition of the regular sounds, such as 3 violins, flute, and 8 choir, is great, whereas the people who made M-Tron seem to have been less careful in choosing tape sets for their recordings of these more common sounds. The strength of the M-Tron, however, is the vast collection of recorded tape sets that may be purchased for it. But if you want only the most regular Tron sounds - which should suffice for most - I would advise you to purchase the Pinder cd.
