1/perhaps this list shd be renamed "mentalotronists" haha ;) 2/regardless of the pros & cons of sampled vs real, real = impractial for me b/c a/ I haven't got the actual physical space for even an m400 and b/as a 2-piece, it is quite nice to be able to get all yr gear in the back of, say, an old-style SAAB900S 3/does anyone have that new steve howell CD-rom? Any good? the demos did sound good 4/who/what is Archer Prewitt? I saw a CD by said artist in HMV yesterday whilst buying the new VDGG and the new Stereolab box comp (this = excellent VFM, 3xCD + 1 x DVD for something like 15 quid!) I noticed either 2 or three of the musicians on the archer prewitt CD were credited w/mellotron playing, but I'm too poor/have been burned far too often to buy stuff on spec these days. any good? What does it/he/she/they sound like? 5/the new VDGG in my case at least is a FAULTY CD AARGH. 6/we're looking to play some gigs, and all of the venues we used to play at have packed in. We're a 2-piece instrumental prog rock-ish thing. Can anyone anywhere in the UK offer us support slot/s after, say, September this year? We're kind of mightily frustrated at the moment. we aren't prima donnas or hissy fit throwers or anything like that. vietgrove@... if so. Thx. 7/worst rompler-tron = the Roland vintage jv card thing. The original "vintage keys" is slightly better, the recentish "vintage pro"/"vintage keys" is a good bit better than any of these IMO. I guess that if yer trying to squeeze all yr rom sounds into 32 mb then even one fully-multisampled tron set is not going to pass go. If there is an E-mu CD-ROm containing fully-sampled sets that they drew the vintage pro samples from, I'd like to hear it!! x0x0x Norman Phay http://www.vietgrove.com
