Hi John, I've never demaged my heads - but that's only because I don't have a demagger, so I guess it's a useful thing to have. Frequency of demaging depends on how much you play the thing and how well you treat it. I wouldn't have thought more than once a year would be necessary unless of course you accidentally magnetise the heads by unplugging and replugging the headblock cable while it's switched on. If you do unplug the co-ax cable for any reason you should short out the centre pin to the outer casing on the socket before you plug back in. You can easily use the edge of the plug to do this. Regarding head alignment - don't touch it! If you seriously think you heads do need adjusting (and I think this is fairly rare) send the whole headblock to Streetly and they'll do it properly. The 3 sounds on M400s/MkII's are recorded on 3 tracks adjacent to each other and they are selected by moving the whole headblock left, centre or right via the linkage connected to the selector switch on the control panel. It's purely a mechanical thing.
