Mellotronists

Hi Gang.  I bought my Mellotron "brand new" sometime around 1987 or 
so from a dealer in Jackson, Tennessee...for $500.  A couple of years 
ago I demag'ed the heads, cleaned it up a bit and tried it out a 
little.  But, since I do not have a studio set-up, I did not use it 
at all.  However, I plan to soon, to add violins and some flutes to

I am not sure where the serial number is recorded.  On part of the 
metal frame from the top, there is the number "1345."  Looks like it 
was scratched into the metal with something.  Is this the serial 
number?  Any idea of the birthdate?

Also, is another convention happening soon?  

I rarely post and often get behind in the reading but thanks for all 
the info you all give.  some of us ARE learning!
