But Mike, we prefer your little demos. When I installed the new sounds on my
MKII, there were no classic songs using these sounds ("Watcher" mix aside),
so I found myself playing the little Mike Dickson demos. Even now, whenever
I fire up the Ray Jung fretless bass, I have to do that bass run to make it
sound *official*.
Don't mind me, I'm easily impressed ;-).
But seriously, its not a coincidence that most of the new sounds I purchased
were the ones demo'd on your web site. I guess, more importantly, I didn't
purchase any sounds that I hadn't heard either on your web site or at
one of the Mellotron meetings. And since there are no more "Tronfests
planned, that pretty much leaves the web site. There were some other
interesting sounds (by name) available in the Library (ex. - E Bow, Electric
Violin), but without a demo to listen to, I couldn't tell if I would like
them or not.
So, (Martin?) if you want to sell the new sounds, the demos should be out
there (and to be fair, most of them are). Mikes demos are much more
effective at conveying the characteristics of the sounds than single notes
are (think Russian choir, for example). Now that Rick's well on the way to
providing some more new sounds, we'll need some demos out there for those
too. Not that *I'M* volunteering to do them though (sorry, Mike) ;-).
