Yep,

...but just a warning not to fit the rack as is, as it will foul the
chassis on full lock. There are 2 inch spacers fitted each side (just
hollow tubes) to restrict full lock.

If you PX a rack, either take them off first or make some new ones up
(having checked the spec on the rack you are trading in).

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks for the interesting news Mark,
The tires on my car do in fact foul the chassis and this is the primary reason to change out rack assy .I have pulled back the boots and do not see any 2 inch spacers if indeed this is where the are located.
If I was to make these spacers would they be about 13/16ths of an inch ID and ride on the rack as it cones out of the pinion housing ?
Awaiting your reply Mark P

Hello Mark
I have actually got the rack out of my car in pieces on the
bench
..........you are correct in assuming that the spacers go between the
inner knuckle and the pinion............the spacers on mine are
approx. 1" long and are of light guage round tubing.
BTW if the pinion and rack grooves line up and do not show any
excessive wear you do not necessarily need to replace the rack.
Adjusting the preload on the pinion and on the inner ball joint
will take any "slop" out of the steering...........also you might want
to look into "poly" bushings to replace the rubber ones if they are
"used up" that will also tighten up the steering feel.
Haynes publishes a manual on the GT6 which is where I have got most
of the info from for the front suspension , brakes and steering
  Good Luck ,......Dave #5577
