Mantis XP

2002-02-07 by mcaqmd

Hi all,

Does anyone have any more knowledge of the whereabouts of the Mantis
XP? There are 6 of us Marcii owners in the San Francisco Bay Area
and if it's here we sure would like to find it!!

I wonder if Jem or Rory or anyone from that period would have any
info? If anyone has any leads please share them!!

By the way, the yellow V6 (located in southern California)on the
Marcos Maniacs website is for sale. Has only 28K miles and was
purchased in L.A. in 1971 (?) from Jem's nephew after it was shown to
the press. Don't know the price but I can contact the owner if
anyone is interested.

Maniacs . . .
A recent issue of Torque magazine had a multi-page writeup on the XP, including plenty of pictures. I don't have the issue to hand, but if someone could look it up and supply the details . . .? The author of the article is accessible by e-mail, so if whoever finds the article can include his name/e-mail address, I'm sure he would be able to provide additional info.
Join the MOC now. They might even have copies of that particular back issue that would available for club members to purchase.

Mantis XP

Has anyone else seen Classic and Sportscars this month?

As well as a multi-page article on Jem and Marcos, there's also a
half page or so, in the Lost & Found section (near the front) on the
Mantis XP.

Richard Falconer is credited with informing them that it's in "San
Francisco" and has been started and 'may run" - Well, we all know
that last summer it DID run :^)

The rest of the story is recounted much as Dave McGill and I recount
on our websites (down to the addition of the 8 track by Tom). There
are a few period photos.

Don, you might want to send C&SC a couple of your excellent shots and
an update - They often follow articles up with letters from people
with more information.

Cheers,

Mark

Mark,

Do you have an email address for the mag? Or a snail-mail address
would work. Can't seem to find anything on the net.
