Marcos art work

2003-04-06 by Mike Denman

Are there any artists in the group that would like to work on a new
Marcos design to be used on a variety of items? The only reward
would be to see your design on something. Contact me "off line" if
you are interested.

Hi Mike,

I'm not an artist, sadly, but surely we could offer a little more as
a reward?

I'm not thinking of cash, but the opportunity to sell original
artworks or a share in the profits of any items bearing such an
artwork.

Good original artwork isn't the work of a moment and requires both
talent and time, so (unless someone really selfless is out
there! :^)) I think we should at least offer some hope of a little
financial reward for the work :^)

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark,
I couldn't agree with you more... however...unless you are going to sell these items for a long, long, long time there probably isn't any profit to share. The "T" shirts that I occasionally sell have yet to "pay back" the original investment in art work. Although I don't sell the T-shirts to make a profit, I was surprised at the low number of people who buy these things. Raising the price certainly isn't the answer and spending a lot of time searching out a low cost supplier in Asia is a waste of time on a low volume item. So, the smart person doesn't get involved (and probably doesn't own a Marcos either!) with low volume, low profit items. The design, this time, will be used by a firm that puts the design on clocks, banners, flags etc. which means they will probably sell even less of these items than I did t-shirts. I won't have any financial interest in the finished product beyond buying a item or two for my personal use. So, that is the situation at hand. If I can help them come up with a design, they will produce the item (which is somewhat surprising considering the small market). I certainly appreciate the amount of work and talent required to create a finished design. I thought I would ask for a volunteer knowing that I might not get a positive response but on the other hand, I might... that is why I asked.

Hi Hal,
Yes, I do have a limited number of T-shirts in some sizes left. Tell me what size you wear and I will tell you what I have left in that size.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Hal,
I glad that Colorado is finally joining the "civilized" world and getting sunny weather. The weather at my new house in California has been spectacular this winter with lots of beautiful, sunny, warm days. Everything else about California "sucks" but we do have nice weather. I have 4 t-shirts in large and they are all the same. The t-shirts are ash gray with the design on the front in red and black and screened over the left pocket area (no pocket). No design on the back. This is the T-shirt design that I usually wear. Cost of the t-shirt and shipping to Colorado is $15 (no extra charge for dog sleds now that the weather is better in Colorado :) ) If you want one (or more) send me your address and a personal check or money order or cash to:

Thanks,
Mike

Hal,

Get that picture to me and you could be May's "Car of the Month".
Mike is in a different part of CA than I! Snow level will be down to
3500 feet tonite in my area. It's 40 degrees now and raining...not
quite Marcos weather. And I'm out of firewood! Guess I'll sleep in
the hot tub tonite.
