registry NA members and vin plate

Hello group,
As everyone is aware I am restoring a 3L Marcos and have been starting to research some of the details on these cars. So first question, in looking at the NA registry I see there are two 3L's near me. Gary Fulcher in MN and Dale Dykema in Chicago. I would like to make contact with either of these owners and see if we could meet to look over their cars? I would gladly travel to either location for a visit. Since there is not much written or much of a manual on these cars. As they say pictures are worth a thousand words. I would also like to take photos as my memory is getting shorter by the day. 

Next questions are in regards to the vin plate and location? On my car the body build tag is on the interior center console below the interior light. When doing the clean up on the front aluminum around the engine bay, above the right motor mount, the aluminum is stamped with another number, is that a body number?

In my restration of Lotus cars the body number does not match the vin or build number. Maybe Marcos follows the same path?

Larry,
The car is a 69 GT 3L Essex V6 3/5349 anhd the number stamped at the front is 1275 if my memory is correct.

Sorry Larry,
I missed that one. It is a wood chassis, I was told one of the last to come state side. Being new to Marcos I seem to forget all the details.

Mark,
On the steel chassis, the chassis number can be found on the dash sub panel behind where the speedo is located. It is hand written with  a magic marker. There is also the factory paint colour. On the left top frame rail, near the aft upper suspension arm attach weldment, is a steel stamped chassis no. I don't know if the factory used this means of identification on the wood chassis cars do not, but you might have a look.

Mark,

I have a late 1969 wood chassis car. The chassis number was stamped on the aluminium panel at the side of the engine bay near the side engine mounting.

Thanks then that explains the number stamped in the aluminum. Mine is 1275 so that does not match the vin number then? which is 3/5349. 

If this is true then they followed or invented the same path as Collin Chapman.

The chassis number on my 1969 car is 3/5436. If your car is 1969 the 3/5349 number looks correct.

So I am not sure what 1275 is as it would be much earlier.

Maybe Rory McMath at Marcos Heritage would know.

The chassis number on my 1969 car is 3/5436. If your car is 1969 the 3/5349 number looks correct.

So I am not sure what 1275 is as it would be much earlier.

Maybe Rory McMath at Marcos Heritage would know.

Thanks then that explains the number stamped in the aluminum. Mine is 1275 so that does not match the vin number then? which is 3/5349.

If this is true then they followed or invented the same path as Collin Chapman.
