Hi Mark,
I couldn't agree with you
more... however...unless you are going to sell these items for a long, long,
long time there probably isn't any profit to share. The "T" shirts that I
occasionally sell have yet to "pay back" the original investment in art work.
Although I don't sell the T-shirts to make a profit, I was surprised
at the low number of people who buy these things. Raising the price certainly
isn't the answer and spending a lot of time searching out a low cost supplier in
Asia is a waste of time on a low volume item. So, the smart person doesn't get
involved (and probably doesn't own a Marcos either!) with low volume, low profit
items. The design, this time, will be used by a firm that puts the design on
clocks, banners, flags etc. which means they will probably sell even less of
these items than I did t-shirts. I won't have any financial interest in the
finished product beyond buying a item or two for my personal use. So, that is
the situation at hand. If I can help them come up with a design, they will
produce the item (which is somewhat surprising considering the small market). I
certainly appreciate the amount of work and talent required to create a finished
design. I thought I would ask for a volunteer knowing that I might not get a
positive response but on the other hand, I might... that is why I
asked.

Hi Mike,
I'm not an artist, sadly, but surely we could offer a little more as
a reward?
I'm not thinking of cash, but the opportunity to sell original
artworks or a share in the profits of any items bearing such an
artwork.
Good original artwork isn't the work of a moment and requires both
talent and time, so (unless someone really selfless is out
there! :^)) I think we should at least offer some hope of a little
financial reward for the work :^)
Cheers,
Mark
