Re future production. There is progress, but I can't tell you any more at the moment. As soon as there's a public announcement, I'll post info on my site. Hi Tad, When are you going to buy another Marcos? If you wait till next year you will be another year older! Do you get as much satisfaction out of your new sportscar? Are there crowds of people around it when you come out of stores? Do people wave and shout as you drive down the street? What are you waiting for? Why drive "boring" when you can experience "fantastic"! Mike Denman --- In MarcosManiacs@y..., gtcoastie@m... wrote: > Thanks for thinking of us and keeping us posted Mark. Geeze Mike, you have just posted all the reasons why I need to get my restoration completed. I am getting older each year and my Sprite is fun, although quite a rough ride. I need to get the Marcos on the ground and enjoy the crowds again! Hello Mike, Bob et al, Shame on you! You are all a very bad influence on me. As it happens, an impending move and Wifey's Mini Cooper make the need for my 2+2 redundant. It is, therefore, on the market. I have been considering my options for when I arrive at our new destination, and another Marcos certainly tops the list. But insidious comments from accomplished enthusiasts such as yourselves do not help my situation (they only make the desire for another Marcos more pronounced)! Anyway, I'll keep the list posted if a Marcos should happen to come my way. Thanks, Tad --- In MarcosManiacs@y..., "Bob Magnotti" <rhdspritemk1@y...> wrote: > Geeze Mike, you have just posted all the reasons why I need to get my > restoration completed. Hi guys, Mike's statement "Are there crowds of people around it when you come out of stores?" kind of got me to thinking. Do any of you ever worry about your car getting gone while you are shopping/working/whatever? Jeff

I thought tooling around in my future baby would have brought you back to the "dark side" again. ;-) Jeff

Jeff, I dont worry to much about my cars when they are parked in public places. I figure that both my Sprite and soon my Marcos both stand out as very different automobiles. Very easy to spot and both not easy to drive considering they are both RHD. My Sprite uses a combination of 4 toggle switches on the dash (no key) plus a push button for the starter to get it going. If you get the toggles wrong the car may start but most likely the fuel pump wont be on and the car will die soon after. This car would be easy to spot sitting dead in the middle of an intersection. Probably will cause a crowd to gather. Most people stealing cars want cars that dont stand out. A Marcos is a very distinctive car and not a usual car that ends up in a chop shop. I love taking my cars to places and standing back and watching the reactions. Bob Magnotti --- In MarcosManiacs@y..., "Jeff Caraway" <DovenWolf@c...> wrote:

Hi Jeff, I don't spend a lot of time worring about the Marcos being stolen. For the professional thief it has no value since stripping it for parts doesn't make sense and it would be hard to sell. For the amateur thief (kids who want to take a joy ride) it is perhaps too distinctive in that it would draw attention and be immediately spotted after being reported stolen. I do cover mine with a car cover when parking outside on trips. Frankly, I worry more about people backing into it than stealing it. The Marcos is low enough that the average driver could miss seeing it in the rear view mirror (assuming they were looking) while backing out of a parking space. Mike Denman

Hi Jeff I don't even lock my Marcos in parking lots. In fact I don't lock my Bentley or my Jag either. I has to do with your willingness to let things go if need be. Dave (5006)

Mike Please don't parallel park your Marcos! Unless you don't care for the way it looks! I made that mistake in 1975 and haven't parallel parked since! 5916T Stephen

Hey now, who's gonna steal it when there's always people around it?? I always left my Jensen-Healey unlocked, windows down, in the hope that someone would steal it! Ten years later I was forced to sell it at a major loss. Don't think that's going to happen with the Marcos. Besides....I can't keep MY eyes off of it for long. Heck - I can't lock my Healey Sprite, it has no door handles or trunk lid. For that matter no top or windows either! A real sports car. I don't lock mine either. Being a convertible, locking is irrelevant anyway, as it is easy to reach in release the locks. Interestingly, my Martina is fitted with Ford locks. However, because of the way the linkages were arranged in the Marcos, ie backwards, it turns out that only my key will lock the car, but any ford key will unlock it !!!! Andrew

Hi All,
Sorry for the late reply to my own thread. I was rather busy last week!
Thanks to all for the great comments on this topic.
I guess I just get a little nervous when I see a crowd around my car. I work in a slightly questionable part of town, so usually a crowd around anything isn’t good.
But, I think you guys are right. The car will stand out too much for most people to mess with it.
It’s the sixteen year old ready-to-get-a-thrill type that I’m most worried about.
