Marcos Glass- role call!

Marcos Glass- role call!

2002-06-20 by Jeff Caraway

OK, here are the names and quantities for the people that responded:

Name: Front Rear
Lee Brinkley 1
Mark Petrinovich 1 1
Dave Barton 1 1
Stephan Spalding ? 1
Paul Verdeyen (UK) 1
Dan Orie 1
Mark Saxby (UK) 1
Jeff Caraway 1 1

Everyone, please check that I have your name and the right quantities.
Also LMK if I missed anyone.

I realize that the involvement may change once we find out prices, but
at least this will give us a number to go to both places with.
I do think it is worth checking both places to see where we stand.

Once confirmed, I will send these quantities to Rory and continue on
that front.
I will also find out if there are extra "hidden" charges like shipping
and customs, and what the lead time may be.

I'm not sure about all the copyright details and what that will mean for
us.
Does anyone know how to pursue this with the Marcos club people in the
UK?
And, who wants to contact Pilkington to get a price (if they can still
make them) once we have confirmed these numbers? Lee... is that you?

Jeff,

I will be willing to pursue this with pilkintons when we have resolved
everything and they should also be able to answer the question about
copyright issues.

Hi all,

John Parker 's "feature page" on Jeff's site states that his car is in
storage due to lack of a rear windscreen.

A lady in South Carolina posted on Mark's site yesterday that she was
looking for a new front windscreen.

I spoke to a gent in southern California last night who has a '67 Marcos
#3/5334. He also needs a rear screen. He is also the previous owner of
Mark Petrinovich's car and was quite surprised that it was on the cover
of British Car Mag. He hadn't heard of any of our sites, etc. He plans
on making his a racer.

Might want to get these folks involved also. The more windscreens, the
cheaper the price!

Hi Don,
Thanks for the heads-up on these.
I have contacted John and am awaiting a response.
I have also spoken with the lady in South Carolina and she would like to
be added, so I will update our roll-call list today.

Don, if you want to follow up with your new Marcos friend, that would be
great.

Marcos Glass- role call!

2002-06-24 by Jeff Caraway

OK, here is an updated list with people’s preference for rear. (Please also read the bottom of this post!)

Name: Front Rear

Lee Brinkley 1

Mark Petrinovich 1 1

Dave Barton 1 1 (poly)

Stephan Spalding ? 1

Paul Verdeyen (UK) 1

Dan Orie 1

Mark Saxby (UK) 1

Jeff Caraway 1 1 (poly)

Michael Crews 1 1 (poly)

Susan Steinriede 1

David Skora 1 (only if Poly)

Please read! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Our options are getting a bit many here, so I want to go over them with everyone (in no particular order).

Option 1: Paul Crocker.

As stated by a member, his prices are approximately:

rear £140.00
front £170.00

I will be contacting him to find out if the rears are glass, or polycarbonate.

I will also try to get an idea of what shipping might cost as well.

Option 2: Pilkington Glass

This may be the same place that Paul Crocker will get them from. I’ll check on that as well.

Option 3: Marcos Heritage

I’m pretty sure that he only offers glass rear, but will check with him as well.

I’ll also try to get a discounted price and an idea of shipping.

Option 4: Canadian Glass Co that Paul mentioned.

We will have to wait until Paul gets free to check these prices, but this could prove less costly in shipping than a UK source.

Option 5: Hayes Harris

Hayes can get polycarbonate rears and is in the US which could also prove a lot cheaper in the shipping costs.

What I really want to do, is to make sure that everyone is happy with the list at the top of this post. If so, I will start approaching these sources for discount prices, so that we can make a decision.

Thanks,

Jeff

Re: [MarcosManiacs] Marcos Glass- role call!

2002-06-25 by Lee Brinkley

Jeff,

Reading everyone's e-mail on the subject of fitting glass rears I think
that I will now opt to go with poly instead as per original, especially
as the whole body chassis unit on the wooden cars acts as one to absorb
flex which could put undue stress into a solid rear glass causing it to
crack. The fibreglass alone shows how much movement is generated with
the tight radii on the corners at the bottom front edges around the rear
screen being prone to serious stress cracking on most cars that I have
seen. I am willing to talk to pilkingtons if that still becomes an
option to follow up.

XP Visit?

2002-06-26 by mark_saxby

Just a quick note to see if the idea of trying to go and see the XP
this Summer is still on?

I've just booked flights and will be in the SF area (although we're
hoping to go and see the Grand Canyon too) 22nd August 'til 3rd
September.

If you're still going and there's any chance I could accompany you,
that would be great.

Hope to meet some of you, anyway, whilst I'm over.

Cheers,

Mark

PS Jem Marsh made a very interesting announcement at the CMI club
rally on Sunday. Marcos Engineering, headed by Jem and Rory and
backed by a Californinan (see the site www.marcos-eng.com) is about
to launch a new car, based on a heavily revised Mantaray and
featuring a totally redesigned interior (goodbye flat dash) and a
Ford Mondeo V6 engine. I hope to have pictures and more details soon.

If the XP visit takes place, given the number of cars in the bay
area, I'm
one of us can give you a ride to see the car.

Mark,

Glad to hear you're coming over! I think Mike is still "off-line" for a
few more days. He has the woman's phone #, etc. and I'm sure now that
your visit dates are set we will be able to set something up.
