Hello Billy!

All bodypanels and doors has a terrible fit even from new (compared to modern cars), this is also true for Lotus and other small manufacturers. But try to adjust the hinge with shims, it might help, but the ones with perfect fit weighs too much because of a  lot of filler to remedy.
