Newbie: Can Logic express do sounddiver type patch editing?

Newbie: Can Logic express do sounddiver type patch editing?

2005-06-10 by ppaul129

I have a GR-30 and a JV-1080 that I would love to be able to do some
deep editing on my mac. I tried to get the public beta of sounddiver,
but you need a usb dongle. Anyway...is there a way to do deep editing
in Logic?

thanks,
-Pete

Probly not. There might have been a public release of the system 9 version - does anyone know? I actually bought Soundiver for actual money so I can't recall. I am using Soundiver now daily. In fact, I am going retro outboard synth becuase I have discovered softsynths to be one of the main culprits in crashes. But I am worried that Soundiver might stop working some day with some new release of osX, then I'll be out of luck, and need to get another machine just to run Soundiver, or else get the new Access Virus where they made their own dedicated editing program so they are no longer dependent on SD.

Kinda- I guess you could design an environment of controllers that
transmit sysex messages, which you could assign to patches and do some
editing. I don't know how to do this personally but maybe someone else
on the list is better with environments and could verify if this could
be done...

(Also how do you have Logic and not have a dongle? You do legitimately
own your software don't you?)

I almost wrote one of these replies too but then noticed the subject line.
Logic Express doesnt have a dongle anymore (if it ever did)..
Its like all the other iApps except Logic Pro, just a serial # needed
for install.

Pete, there was a book that came out from Apple on Logic 6 Pro (sorry
the name escapes me at the moment perhaps someone else here can refresh
my memory) that came with a dongle that was authorized for a 30 day
trial of Logic Pro.. This dongle works for Sound Diver OS X.. Might
wanna see if you can locate a copy of that at a Barnes and Noble or
something.. The book may help with getting around Logic Express while
youre at it, and at the same time you can then use Sound Diver OS X..

I think many of the main synths have already had this work done. You can try Len Sasso's webpage www.swiftkick.com for free downloads. Maybe there are some other downloable environments too. Come to think of it I need to look for one for my Novation Nova.

Do the Log Express owners have dongles too?

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
