ensemble effect on SX240 noisy ?

ensemble effect on SX240 noisy ?

2010-02-02 by esynthesist

Hi,

I'm servicing my SX240 and had to repair the VCF EG of one channel.
It sounds good now and has also been fully recalibrated.

But I have the impression that the ensemble effect is quite noisy (much more e.g. than the chorus on the Juno 60)
Is this normal behaviour ? Or is the ensemble of the SX240 known to be very quiet ?
I can't compare with other SX240s and I don't want to start servicing the ensemble pcb if it's normal behaviour...

Thanks in advance

I dont belive this is normal the ensemble quiets the sound on my sx240. when turned on it DOES make the board a tad more quiet.are you runing the out in mono or stero? What do you have the output switch set at? full? But like you I never had another sx240 to compare this.I wonder if others get noisy or more quiet and soft

Hi,

On my SX 240, the ensemble effect makes the synth quieter, probably at %80 of its non-ensemble volume. The ensemble effect is clean and very juno/roland like with no noise at all. Hope that helps! =)

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Mine definitely introduces noise to the sound on both channels (I'm using stereo outs at "-10db").

I guess I'll have to take a look to that board too.

The guy who sold it to me said it was in perfect condition so I paid a fair price for it, but it seems to suffer from multiple problems which I only discovered back in my studio.
I hope I can fix the ensemble board also and get this synth in perfect condition again.
