Value of SX-210 these days?

Value of SX-210 these days?

2006-09-15 by kmbole

Hello all -

I inherited a Kawai SX-210 about a year ago from a friend who was
getting out of music. I played it for a few shows and I'm fond of it
- but truly I'm a bassist at heart, and in order to fund the bass of
my dreams I have to sell a few things... *sigh*

So I'm looking to find a good home for the SX-210. It plays fine -
the keys are all good, some of the buttons are a bit sticky and the
dial can be touchy, but I believe it's nothing that a good cleaning
wouldn't fix. There are screws missing along the top of the synth,
but structurally there's nothing wrong with this synth that I know of.

Problem is, I don't really know what to ask for it. There's none on
ebay at the moment to give me an idea of its worth. I found one post
online where someone bought it for $150 US and another where someone
bought one for 150 UK pounds - that's a pretty wide range, and it's
from a few years ago to boot. I don't want to accidentally undervalue
it, and also not ask so much I get laughed off craigslist. ;)

Of course, if anyone here is interested in it, please let me know!

Thanks very much - I appreciate your help.

Kirsten

Hi, I paid 280 $ CAN two years agor for it, perfect condition. I saw it
in new York at Two lines music store for 240 $ US last year. It depends of its condition, its becoming more rare these years.

I'd say - keep it,
the price is only going to rise with the years.

That is only if you replace the nasty NiCD battery ;)

I paid $200 US to have mine serviced... mine works almost perfectly, save
for some burnt out LEDs. The guy who serviced it said it was about a $400
synthesizer (granted he may have been upping the value in order to make me
feel better about spending that kind of money to just fix one), so there you
have another estimate.

SX240 can go for a little more because of midi. Frankly, i like the
sound of the 210 more. I NEVER see them go for 400 though. More like
$150-225 for either. Definitely under the radar.

Re: Value of SX-210 these days?

2006-09-18 by kmbole

Hey all - thanks for your help.

Well, I listed it for $225 (CAN) and sold it for that in two days, got
two calls, so I think it was just the right price. It went to a
vintage synth collector so he'll give it the cleaning it needs and
take good care of it.

I would have liked to have kept it, but this bass guitar calls to me
too strongly :)

Re: Value of SX-210 these days?

2006-09-30 by gil_we

After listening (and watching) the YouTube demonstation video of the
SX240, posted here a few weeks back, I have to admitt that I think
that the SX240 is a much more interesting instrument. Very fat, very
versatile, sort of a synth camillion.

Re: Value of SX-210 these days?

2006-10-02 by gil_we

As the nature of the forum is changing, I thought that leaving it as
kawai_sx210 wouldn't be correct.

I decided to turn this forum to be related to all KAWAI and Teisco
made analog synths, as they are all of the same family, and quite
rare to get seperate forums.

To make things easier, I created a poll so we all can decide what
name is best. Then we'll set it for good.

Cheers ;)
