GBC H425 laminator question

GBC H425 laminator question

2009-03-27 by jj_winkel

Hi everybody
I have acquired a 2nd hand GBC H425 laminator, it takes 2 mm thick docs easily even so max thickness specified was 1 mm only.
It has a 0 (cold) to 9 thermostat settings, but I am unable to find to what temperature they correspond.
The doc only makes a correspondance with laminating pouches thickness ? (max is 2 x 250 m)
Anybody have an idea ?

I have now received the temp settings from GBC
If of any interest to somebody, here's what they are :

GBC H425 Thermostat settings ( +/-10°C )
#1 = 109°C / 228°F
#2 = 111°C / 232°F
#3 = 120°C / 248°F
#4 = 125°C / 257°F
#5 = 131°C / 268°F
#6 = 145°C / 293°F
#7 = 155°C / 311°F
#8 = 160°C / 320°F
#9 = 162°C / 324°F

Can you explain? I have a GBC "personal laminator" I cannot find any
other model number and, so far, it has worked well for toner transfer.
What are those numbers and what would be the best for the toner transfer
on a PCB?

I have the GPC creative, and the temp setting is 320 F. If you open
yours up you can probably get the part number of the bimetallic switch
and look it up.

I've found that 320 is too cold for my toner, and too hot for photo
film.

This laminator is a GBC Heatseal H425, it has a variable temperature setting knob that is graduated from 0 to 9 according to a laminating pouches thickness chart, but nowhere is indicated to what actual temperatures those numbers correspond. Thus I wrote to GBC asking for that info and eventually got the answer as posted above.
I opened the cover, and found that it has 4 spring mounted rollers, first two are heated, the springs can be adjusted and the gears are metal, plus the temperature is electronically regulated, so I am very happy with it.
Will do some tests as soon as possible.
