The Motorola Backflip (Android 1.5) and Devour (1.6) were both released at AT&T stores in the United States in early 2010. The HTC Droid Eris was marketed until the middle of 2010 by Verizon with Android 1.6. 

In part, this is why popular games such as Angry Birds are free for Android -- the publisher cannot guarantee compatibility. A Fairlight app could well face similar issues which could negatively impact the brand.
