Removing Cartridges From a Dead 1400

Removing Cartridges From a Dead 1400

2010-01-15 by robtmckay@aol.com

The power supply in my Epson 1400 recently went dead. Since it was out of
warranty, I decided to buy a new one. I'm now ready to set up the new init
with the EB6 inkset I had in the earlier printer.

Is there any way to get the old MIS refillable cartridges out of the old
printer or do I have to buy a new set from MIS? Because the thing won't power
up, I cannot get the cartridge carriage to move into position so I can
open the lid and remove the old cartridges. Anybody know if there is a way to
do this manually, since I no longer have the ability to turn the printer
on?

Hi:

I don't have the 1400, but many epson printers have a plastic "catch"
which prevents movement of the heads on the carriage. If you can see
one, push it down with a small screwdriver, or sometimes there is a
wheel on the other end that will move it out of the way.

It is recommended by many, to install the epson cartridges on a new
machine first. You will know for sure that it works anyways.
