Epson 2400, 13 x 36 inch panorama, I'll be dipped if I can cypher it out....

2007-12-12 by namibiajohnston

Would someone take a moment and run me step by step through the
printing process for a 13 x 36 inch or mm/cm equivalent panorama off
a roll? I'm trying to print 6 elephants racing towards a water hole
in B & W!

I have made a couple of aborted efforts, on chopped off both ends
and the other two printed off center and only partially.
In the Print window I select roll not manual roll, manual roll is
for a feed through the front?
Do I use the banner or cut sheet mode?
If I use Banner do I tick "save roll paper option?"
If I use Cut sheet mode do I tick "print page frame option?"
I have to set the custom page size; I can either use 0.01cm or
0.01in,
Does 13 inches become 1300 inches and 36 inches become 3600 inches?

I really could use a step by step how to here, papers too expensive
to keep making mistakes….

Many thanks from Namibia

Chris,

Don't have a 2400 so can't give you step by step, but what I can say is that
in these situations I do a simple test print the same size as I plan to
print but with just the 4 corners marked out on the print and then I test
print on some cheap, maybe plain paper of the right size to make sure I have
the correct settings. Its quick simple and cheap.

FWIW, if the 2400 is similar to my much older Epson, then there is a
panorama size in the drop down paper size menu Chris. As my printer is only
A4 sized, I am limited to 210mm x 550mm, but I would expect the maximum
paper size for your A3+ printer to be much larger of course. I have
successfully used 2 sheets of fanfold which is actually longer than the
print size, by the way, and so you should be OK with a roll feed I would
have thought.

Hi Chris,

I have an Epson 2100, which should behave virtually the same
regarding paper handling.

You didn't tell us what exact print area size your pano has. From
which applikation do you print? Borderless or not?

Assuming you print with borders on all sides, you have to check if
your printer positions the print area correctly. Otherwise you have
to take some corrections into account. Check your borders with
exactly the same settings as you are going to use for your pano. Use
cheap paper (glue some sheets together) and a small frame to print to
save ink.

Use banner mode.
Don't use "save roll paper option"!
Yes, set custom paper size.
Yes, 1300x0.01in = 13in and 3600x0.01in = 36in.

OK, here's step by step which I just confirmed.

Choose image, size it.

Click print

Choose 2400 printer (if you have more than one connected)

Chose roll paper

Select banner mode

Choose paper, etc.

Choose size--USER DEFINED
       Width 1295
Length 4000 (this will leave some border on both ends)

Save as 13x40 pan so you can use this again

Change to landscape mode

Click OK, see first preview

Click print, then print again

Check preview that comes up, albeit slowly perhaps. Here you should
see it as it will print out, centering and borders in real view

Click print and make sure you have room for the roll to come off

Hit the buttons to print the cut off line, trim and admire.

I just did all of this on my printer, but stopped at the preview as I
didn't need the print.

Hope this helps.

You'll get a preview by the print driver only if you check the
appropriate option in the print driver settings (first tab) first.
Don't forget to do this!
