Hello, I have asked this before and didn't get a response, I apologize for asking again but would like to get some information. I would like to know if it is possible to remove the ink from R4800 carts and put this ink into the R2400 carts. The reason for this being the significant cost savings of the R4800 ink (and a desire to stick with Epson inks for now). I would like to put the ink into MIS spongless carts for the R2400. Is this possible? Are others doing this? Do I need to do anything to minimize/prevent the ink from foaming? Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you

Thanks Ernst, I think I'm ok with refilling the 2400 carts, but I can't find info on how to remove the ink from the 4800 carts. What are the general problems I'll encounter? I flushed a cart from an old printer (HP) before, and I got a lot of foaming. Will the foam settle (when kept in the storage bottle)? Should I try to discard it? What equip. do I need to remove the ink? (syringes-what size?, any bottles ok for storage?) Thanks

There are two simple ways to remove ink from a 4800 cartridge. 1) Prise off the top cover, lift out the bag, snip the corner off and pour into a bottle, such as a Nalgene bottle. 2) Put a very short length of plastic tubing onto a syringe and make a slanting cut at the end of the tube. Jab the syringe and tube into the valve of the cartridge and suck the ink out. You needn't have a bottle: you can just fill the R2400 cart from the syringe. I use method 1), but I have also tried method 2). Helen has summed it up quite well.
I have one method to add that I use to empty, 10000, 9600,
9800 carts while keeping them usable for someone else.
Take a 1.5 m - 5' tube of about 2-3mm - 1/8" internal diameter
and use a part of a syringe coupling (I have Luer>tube
connectors) with a small v cut in the end that sits against
the valve in the cart. That way you press the valve in but at
the same time the ink can go through the v groove into the
tube. Hang that cart against the wall at 1.5 m high and a
bottle at the ground where the tube goes in. Gravity and
capillary action will suck that cart empty in no time. With
the 9800/7800/10000 carts you can also blow air into the
pressure chamber with a short tube at the air connector of
that cart type. In that case even a syringe doesn't take out more.
